The Officers' Senior Courses (OSC)
The aim of the OSC is to develop the knowledge of potential Squadron Commanders in the ATC. In addition, it provides a seminar for newly appointed permanent staff, for example, Wing Admin Officers (Wg Ad Os), Regional Staff Officers (RSOs) and Headquarters Air Cadets (HQAC) executives.
Exceptionally, experienced Corps officers may attend to update themselves on Corps policy and procedures.
Course outline:
Instruction will be given on the following topics:
- Squadron Commander Duties
- Oral Communications - leading to a Syndicate Presentation exercise
- Civilian Committees
- Corps Drugs Policy
- Drill and Ceremonial
- Interview Techniques & Welfare matters
Staff Officers from HQAC will also update attendees on the policy and procedures for:
- Ground Training issues for cadets and adult staff
- Sports and Adventure Training
- Corporate Communications
- Financial matters
- Branch Organisation matters
- Logistics matters
- Health and Safety
- Personnel matters
- Flying and Gliding
The Corps Chaplain will brief the course and the RAF Careers Information and Recruiting and Selection team will give presentations on career and selection opportunities for cadets considering entering the RAF. Commandant Air Cadets or his deputy will also address the course.
