Uniformed staff training
As a sergeant or officer in the Training Branch of the RAF Volunteer Reserve (RAF VR) (T), you can claim up to 28 days’ pay per year and work your way up through the ranks in a similar manner to the RAF. You’ll also benefit from an exclusive selection of specialised training courses.
Most uniformed staff training takes place at our Adult Training Facility (ATF), located at Headquarters Air Cadets (HQAC) at RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire.
Courses provided at the ATF are:
The Officers’ Initial Course (OIC)
The Officers’ Senior Course (OSC)
The Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Staff Initial Course (SSIC)
The Senior Non-Commissioned Staff Drill Instructors' Course (SSDIC)
Each courses lasts for five days, usually starting with a short briefing session on a Sunday evening. Tuition begins on Monday morning with all courses ending on Friday at about midday.
